Before Ollie was born, Ryan and I would take long, relaxing drives out in the country. Simon would look out the window at animals, the scenery, or sleep and we would get some time to talk. Last weekend we decided to give it a try with the new addition. We set out for a drive through the hills and mountains around the valley and Ollie did great.
Unfortunately, I am no longer relaxed in the car. I'm not sure how fun it was for Ryan to have me sitting in the passenger seat grasping at my door, pumping an imaginary break pedal, and saying, "Ryan, do you see that car?". Next time I will definitely sedate myself before setting out. That may take away from the conversation aspect of the drive. Or it could add to it, I suppose.
