Mr. Independent
Simon couldn't wait to get to his class. He barely tolerated me taking his picture and then gave quick hugs goodbye. He went to sit with his friend Jacob, who was nervous, and put his arm around him. It was hard for me to leave him there, but Ryan reassured me that Simon has been ready for this for a year, at least. Of course, that's not the point.
Two hours and forty minutes later I go back to pick him up. He saunters out of the class, refuses to hold my hand, lets me know that he would prefer to ride the bus and, oh, he has a girlfriend. Hmm...obviously, it's mom who's not ready for this.

fischer and bowie
fischer is now three months old and shanna's little guy, bowie, is about five weeks.
